Hessie D. (Nix) Johnson, 83, of Troy died Feb. 13, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with the Rev. Judd Mowery officiating. Burial will follow there in Terrace Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be William Matheny, Larry Matheny, Pete Matheny, Gary Duren, Harry Johnson, Bobby Johnson and Karl Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo McEwen, Carl Tibbs, Jeff McBride, Clint Tibbs and Will McBride.

The family requests that memorials be made to Troy United Methodist Church.

She was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Obion County, daughter of the late Charlie and Nannie (Davis) Nix. She married Marvin Wesley Johnson Jan. 7, 1951. He died Jan. 18, 1985. She had been employed at the former Salant & Salant in Obion and Troy for 25 years, retiring in 1983, and was a Baptist .

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Nancy Johnson of Troy; three grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Chad Franks of Murfreesboro, Shawn and Jaime Johnson of Troy and Tara and Brian Burress of Mt. Juliet; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Franks and Emma Franks, both of Murfreesboro, and Braden Burress and Britton Burress, both of Mt. Juliet; and five sisters, Hattie Matheny of Troy, Dorothy Mitchell of Union City, Georgia Duren of Obion, Loretta Staggs of Kennett, Ark., and Louise McMahan of Conway, Ark.
