Dorothy Nell (Johnson) Burress, 77, of Rives died at Union City Manor Nursing Home Feb. 26, 2012.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Leggett officiating, assisted by the Rev. Eddie Mallonee.

Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5-8 this evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jack Leech, Jason Leech, Steve Rice, Hunter Rice, Dylan Burress and Major Brad Morgan.

The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope.

She was born May 25, 1934, in Weakley County, daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel (Fowlkes) Johnson. She married Jerry M. Burress March 27, 1953. He survives. She had worked in the jewelry department at Walmart for 13 years and was a member of Union City Second Baptist Church.

She is also survived by two daughters and her son-in-law, Linda and Steve Rice of Union City and Brenda Brewer of Memphis; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Carla Burress of Hornbeak; six grandchildren and their spouses, Hunter and Melissa Rice of Union City, Rebecca and Major Brad Morgan of Clarksville, Dylan Burress of Hornbeak and Eva and Dan Trimble, Anna Brewer and Lydia Brewer, all of Memphis; five great-grandchildren, Adeline Rice and Edna Jane Rice, both of Union City, Ali Morgan and Aiden Morgan, both of Clarksville, and Demian Trimble of Memphis; and her sister, Lucille Menees Davis of Union City.

She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Zachary Tidwell; and her sister, Edna Whitehead.
